Hello all.

Need some guidance !

The thermostat on my 1997 E-36 (M44) 318i went bad. Before installing a new one, i was wondering if there is any thermostat out there that opens at lesser temperature (e.g. 80 or 88). The ambient temperature here gets more than 45 C in summer and I want to keep the car cooer using 80 or 88 thermostat .

I checked and found that Pre-1996 E36s (M42) have 80 or 88 degree Centigrade thermostat. However, after 1996 with M-44 engine the operationg temp was increased to 95 degrees. My question is:

1... Are there any thermostat available for E36 M44 that open at less than 95 degrees? If so, can someone give me the part number?

2... Can a 80 or 88 degree thermostat for Pre-1996 E36/M42 fit in the thermostat assembly of post-1996 e36s (i.e. M44) ? :dunno:

Thanks people.....
