The lid on my glove box is peeling away from the backing. I plan on gluing and clamping it overnight once warmer weather gets here, but I'm curious ... does anyone have a recommendation on what type of glue I should use?

Thanks.

This happened to mine and I used some clear silicone and haven't had any problems.

But silicone isn't necessarily an adhesive, is it?

Most people recommend silicone. It works well if the vinyl is not pulling (shrinking). If the vinyl is coming up because it is shrinking (you can tell by trying to hold the vinyl up to the backing - if you have to re-stretch it significantly, it's shrinking), it's better to use a solid adhesive.

I used Gorilla Glue (snot). Be careful when clamping, however. In order to avoid the clamps leaving permanent marks, put a long strip of something (wood works) along the repair. Otherwise, the clamp will leave a permanent indentation.

Also a note on gorilla glue, it expands so use only as small of an amount as you need, otherwise you will have it all over the place and it is almost impossible to clean off completely after it dries. Oh and if you get it on your hands, don't use water to wash it off. It is activated by water and just gets stickier. You have to let it wear off. Believe me I know from experience.

Yeah. Sandpaper actually works well to get it off. Just make sure it's a finer grit so you don't end up taking more than the glue off!

The indentations can be removed with a blow dryer or heat gun. I clamped mine and it left the marks, but I used a heat gun over the marks and they came right out.
