hey guys i have the escort x50 blue and i hardwired it to my car under the rear view mirror. i followed the instructions on a form on here somewhere which told me to splice into a "green wire with a yellow strip on it". i then found the wire and spliced into it and grounded the other end...worked perfect and turn on and off with the ignition up until 2 days ago....i had it hardwired for almost 6 months with no problem. then recently the radar started to short out on me so i replaced it thinking it was defective...well the radar was perfectly fine but the connection was not good. i reconnected the wire and it kind of worked.....so i peeled off some of the plastic housing around the wire and reconnected it and worked great....for only a day....now i get nothing from the wire....no juice it seems like...i tried and tried to connect and reconnect the wire but i dont even get a little spark anymore..what can cause this to happen and what could be and alternate route into fixing this problem....guys i have that damn coiled wire connected to it now and it looks crappy....so u see where im coming from so please help me out

so your saying it maybe the splice connecter that taps into the wire?

It's most likely the tap connector--get another at Radio Shack. Peeling the insulation from the wire probably made it worse, since those connectors use the insulation to provide pressure against which the tap presses into.

As I recall, that wire is for the sunroof--check to see if it works--if not, you may have blown a fuse.

I've had my V1 taped into that wire and still working after 3 years.

the sun roof work fine...before i could hold the bare wire up to the part i cut out on the green/yellow wire and could get a signal to see if it worked or not but now i get nothing....can it be the green/yellow wire or the fuse or the direct wire cord itself or the connector?

Yes--I suppose it could be any of those things. I'd start by checking the car fuses (the owners manual says where they are). Could be the in-line fuse in the power cord--have you checked that? If not those, then I'd get a new tap connector. Can't really help you much more than that.
