I was just looking around on eBay and happened to run into this unique E28:

He said that he isn't positive that is the true mileage, but I still have to say, if that is true, this a testament to the reliability of BMWs if treated properly! Besides a few body and interior quirks and a "skip" at low RPMs, the car appears to be in fairly decent condition. Check it out.

Wow. That's something you might expect to see on a W123 Diesel

I've seen a couple with 300K and even 400K. It does require good maintenance to keep it running that long!

yeah those 3,5's don't need maintenance, they just need to be driven hard. I bought one with around 400k that wasn't maintained (actually it was beat to hell by the past owner who was a real jerk) and the auto tranny was just starting to go. I ended up getting hit by a minivan at 40 mph (and totaling it) the van struck the drivers front corner, destroying the van's bumper, passenger fender, tire, rim, hood both side doors, and side lights. All it did to the car was rip half of the bumper off, dent my passenger fender and dent the front valance. I pulled all the front end panels off and the right frame rail was tweaked 1/4 inch. I pulled the motor out of it because the body was rusty, and am putting it in another car. e28 FTMFW!
