Hey guys...
I am new to this side of the forum and I am looking for some advice on buying either a 98-99
m3 convertible. I now have an 03' 540m sport with a bunch of Dinan toys and upgrades with about 30,000 miles on the clock.I love the car and I am not planning on getting rid of it any time soon. Actually I'll be dropping a little s/c in soon, but that is a different topic.
I have been searching for a low mileage m3 that has not been beat on, and I just wanted to get a quick idea what to look for aside from the usual maintenance records and history.I have come across a couple with about 30 to 40,000 miles for about $16 -$18,000 and one that I have my eye on with only 19,000 miles for $17,900. Unfortunately I need to get an automatic because the wife will be driving this one most of the time.
Is there much of a difference between the 98 and 99 model? Are there special considerations with the convertible top and the mechanics?
Thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

No comment on the 98 or 99 convertible but I also have a 98 540i sport and a 95 M3. Love both but the M3 is simply a joy to drive with excellent handling and responsiveness. Enjoy the process and good luck.
