Hi all:
I have been between the 535xi and the X5 3.0. I posted the 535xi deal on the respective board.
Today I test drove an X5 3.0 and the acceleration was not too bad. So the compromise of speed to space vs cost, was becoming more acceptable to me.
This is the deal I have so far and please let me know if it is any good:
X5 3.0
Leather
Rear Cimate
Running Baords
Heated Front Seats
Nav
With the Feb delivery deal of 2500, plus the 1000 remaining of my two payments (500 per month)
List = 51725
Negotiated price = 47575 (this includes the 1000 from my two payments)
10K miles pe ryear
36 months
= 647 per month lease rate
Signing costs = 3268
What do you guys think?
i did negotiate the 535xi with a MSRP of 58K down to $600 per month and it had alot more features, but obviously less space which is slighlty important to me.

no real advice, just a question. how does one drive less than 10k per year? i average 1500 miles/month.

mostly city driving as I have no life to go on real trips.

I average about 8500 miles/year. I work from my home office most of the time and occassionally travel to client locations by airplane. So my car is mostly used within a 5 to 10 mile radius of my house.

see now that is just sad.
i actually work from the house but my customers are local so i ride around the county checking jobs etc.
my 04 pick-up has 106k on it. but now that it is no longer my DD i should put less miles on it.

yea the X5 is my wife's. she also works from home and just takes the kids to school (I pick them up in the afternoon). we use her car on trips but we usually take 3 or 4 road trips a year as we like Mexico and cruising for our main vacations. Bottom line we have had the X5 now for 3 weeks, 190 miles on it.

I use the X for daily driving and goes everywhere with it, up till now only 800 miles after a month. 10k per year seems reasonable to me if you would only use it for city driving and not go interstate driving.

Latest Update on my negotiations:
The original X5 from this thread is gone and I was disappointed at my local dealer until i found another dealer haveing a better car for less money all over the phone. i am going tomorrow morning to check the car out and may just take it right then and there.
Apline White
Black Leather
Premium
Cold Weather
Tech
Read Climate
Ipod
Running Boards
3800 initiation (no cap cost...this is taxes for NY which is high, 625bank, 500 registration/plates, 1st monh)
$636 per month and this includes the two payments I have in my current X5 of 500 permonth (1k).
I will keep you guys posted, but so far I have had bad luck getting the one i want, so I am crossing my fingers.
Are you comparing the X5 to the 535xi or xiT? The wagon owners on the e60 forum seem to love the wagons and many came from SUV's or compared the two extensively.
Just curious as to your thoughts. I'm trying to decide between the two myself.

No wagons for me. At least not for now.

I would suggest that the Wagon has more useable space than the SUV.
It will drive better, and get much better mileage.
You won't have the raised seating position of the SUV, but thats about it.

Hi all:
I did it !
I got the car :)
and I love it already.
The same car as above.
I got it from BMW of Bloomfield NJ
X5 3.0si
Alpine White, Black Leather
Premium
Rear Climate
Tech
Cold Weather
Running Boards
Ipod Adapter
What can I say, this car is so much better than my 2005 X5 that I turned in today.
So much to say really...I am very happy with my decision.
Just a few quick comments and more to come later on.
1. Bluetooth - what a breeze to synch...all my contacts from my Blackberry Pearl synced in seconds and the way you dial and scroll thru contacts and accept calls is amazing.
2. Nav - alittle getting used to as I have a Magelan for the windshield which has a very different interface. But the one with the X5 is pretty slick. Not sure to keep it on dynamic though as it took me thru some local streets from NJ to Brooklyn coming home which did not make the most sense.
3. I love the little lights go on under the external door handles...very cool !
4. Drive is great...slightly more compliant than my previous X5...very accurate steering and feel as in the previous one.
5. Hooked up my maxed out 60 gig ipod photo and bam all my music was right there. I didn't realize you could scroll thru all artists, as for some reason I thought it would only go thru playlists...so this easily exceeds my expectations.
6. Alpine White...I wasn't sure about this color until I saw it on that car...just beautiful..and I will post pics maybe tomorrow. It is really sharp, especially with the running boards and tinted rear windows from the rear climate package.
7. Acceleration is OK, seems about equal to my old X5 so I am happy with it...of course would have prefered more power with less gas, but that technology is not out yet in a bimmer.
8. Good lease rate with no money down...$636 per month, 36 months, 10K miles per year. Not bad :)
9. The whole interior feels so different thatn the old one...much better feel, especially the screen and idrive which I actually like.
10. Cold weather package is pretty cool...especially the heated steering wheel...will test it out tomorrow morning when the car is nice and frozen here in NY.
That is about it for now...and I will keep you guys posted on how things go.
One bad thing was after I left the dealer in NJ and I was on the highway, I realized the damn rear left turn signal was not working and the light was blinking fast. This is a little disapointing since the car is brand new and I don't understand how they did not pick this up when they preped the car.

What can I say, .
Sounds great. What was the MSRP for the car listed above. I am thinking of going to BMW Bloomfield as well.
Looking for a simple:
X5 3.0

Tech Package
Cold Weather
Ipod Adapter
Online MSRP is $50,757
Looking for 36 mos. lease (12,000) for less than $630.

I think MSRP was $54,525, but I don't have the exact MSRP price...you can price it out quite easily if you build your car at bmwusa.com

I have been away on business trips for about 6 months per year for the last three years and my cars are gathering dust and little mileage.
