I have a 2004 X3 and every time I turn the wheel there is this clicking. Anyone else experience that? Any explanations?

Thanks

My first suggestion... check your watch band. ;)

Haha not quite sonoman.
I don't wear a watch when I'm driving. It just keeps clicking when I turn the wheel not matter how smooth or rocky the drive is.

Nobody has experienced this??

On a more serious note - mine occassionally makes a bit of a squeeky sound if turning deep left or right - but only when the weather is cold and the interior hasn't warmed up.

"Clicking" sounds like it may be one of the joint bearings in the steering shaft... if you are still under warranty - have them check it out.

Unless you start to actually "feel" the clicking when the steering wheel is in motion - I doubt it is very serious from a functional standpoint.

Could it be a faulty turn signal cancel actuator when you turn passed a certain point? Is it a single click per one full rotation, or multiple ones?

Nope. No squeeks. It is a single click in one full rotation.

It does seem like its the turn signal though.

Is it a serious problem?

I am experiencing the same problem on my 2004 X3. Multiple clicks (sounds like the turn signal actuator) when I turn the wheel. I haven't gotten top the bottom of it yet. Any ideas?
