Transmission problem

I'm a new member and a fairley new owner of an 86 e28. When I leave for work in the morning, it takes a long time for my car to switch from 1st to 2nd gear and then it is fine once it has shifted. Can anyone give me any advice

Do you have any idea of when was the last service (oil and filter change) done to it? Does it have the proper level(amount) of oil? I would start there and see where it takes you.
