2008 X3. After sitting in garage a day, full tank indicates ~ full! Why is the tank gas soooo slow to show correctly? The car is almost new, ~ 2000 miles?

Thank

It is broken. Take it in for warranty repair.

On my '97 328i, if I put too much gas in (ie added more after the auto stop) it took a day or 2 to show full. I believe there is an overflow cannister that gets saturated and affects the gauge somehow. Not sure how it works, but that's what someone told me once.

Had the same happen a few times with my '02 330Ci.

Stopped topping off and it never happened again.

Did the pump shut off before fill up-and you squeezed the trigger to restart-thats what happened to me==the feedback in the nozzle was too sensitive. Try a different pump next time and welcome to the BMW X3 quirkyness--there will be other strange events.
