Sunrood Rattle on 2004X3 3.0

So we have the infamous rattle with the pana sunroof open all the way. I've read that the only solution is to have the entire assembly replaced however I'm a bit worried about the competency of the local techs vs the bmw factory.

I dont know if the risk of having the headliner leak, get stained, things not fitting back together right is worth it.

Anyone just try and have the wind deflector installed under warranty first? I'm thinking the rattle is strickly a wind issue and this can solve the probelm without a lot of work.

Any ideas?

I just had my sunroof replaced and the sound was gone, but.....I took my car through a car wash and, you guessed it, it stared leaking. Had it adjusted and now there is a new rattling sound going on when it is open all the way. I am getting a new car in October, so, at this point I think I am going to just live with it. Good luck!
