Is there a website that sells accessories for the X3?

I want to replace the white sidemarkers with a nice smoked set.

I'm also looking to pull the headlights apart and remove the amber reflector for the Euro look. Anyone on this forum attempt this?

I found a small writeup on X3World about someone installing angel eyes and they did this but they removed a lot from the headlight before baking at 200deg which I dont think is neccessary.

I think baking is necessary to get to the amber markers inside.

Some model year headlights can't be baked apart.

Sadly, I don't remember which years that is.

Baking is definitely neccessary however I dont think you need to remove anything from the headlight first.

Anyone with ideas on the smoked side marker?

I have seen the sidemarkers on ebay, but unfortunately they are in Hong Kong. I wouldn't trust ebaying overseas. I have had good luck for lighting for other BMW's on bavauto.com, but they don't have much for the X3. I'm sure there is another website out there, but I don't know of one.

Yeah I agree with EBay overseas = no good. Keep it in mind in case you come across anything.

Thanks!

I bought some carbon fiber emblems and aluminum M pedals from the guy in Taiwan, they were great!

I think I know the post on X3World you're referring to. It looks like they removed the obvious parts for the headlights (bulbs, xenon ballasts and ignitors, etc) which I would definitely recommend. I retrofitted a full set of e39 xenons into my previous car (RSX). If you decide to bake your lights don't set it any higher than 200 degrees. I was in a hurry and melted them...bad.

What were you going to do w/ the amber, paint it? I haven't found replacement parts for the corners, but think maybe chrome spray paint would do...

Considering that all household ovens (even top end ones) can vary 25 degrees +/- from the temp selection - I'd defintely recommend using a good oven thermometer if you decide to do this.

I did this on the TTs headlights with no problem. Actually had to do it a few times. Oven temp at 175 for about 10mins then a hairdryer to keep the adhesive warm as you pull apart. I had no issue with keeping everything on the headlight attached. 175 isn't that hot. I believe the turn signal and parking lamp bulbs get much hotter than that.

I fabbed up my own blinker cover, but unfortunately as the glue cured once in the housing it fogged up and had to be removed.

I'm sure you're all tired of hearing about my car. In the near future I'll start posting lots of X3 pictures.

The US ebay had them from Hong Kong with shipping for $10 too. Probably the same seller.

The US EBAY ad I saw was just crystal/clear. UK EBAY actually had smoked.
