View Full Version : A gamble with travel

Warning, I'm a little crazy! :rofl::rofl:

So, my fiancee found this new low-budget airline: Skybus.com, and if you plan a trip far enough out, it's only $10 to $35 per ticket. One of their hubs is Greensboro/Winston Salem, NC, which is about a 3hr drive to Greenville, SC.

So, last night I pulled out the calendar, counted 8 weeks from when my car is being dropped off according to my ED itinerary [BMW says 6-8wks], then counted 2 more weeks (my total guess as to how long it would take to get a PCD date given their popularity, with no product overview needed), and booked airfare for Thursday, July 17, 'assuming' (always dangerous) a Friday, July 18 PCD.

Why would I do this? Because through Skybus, the tickets were only $48. If the dates don't align that's all I'm out, and I've bet more on a hand of blackjack!! (the one-way rental car can be canceled).

Anyway, I had to share my story, and also mention this Skybus thing, since it looks like a reasonable drive from W-S to Greenville. $50air+$50car+$50gas = $150 for two people, half of the plane tickets direct to Greenville, and only $50 of it is a gamble on the dates. I have no idea what airfare would cost closer to the date either...
