kinda a low whirring/wheeze noise. no screeching at all.
i have 86 535i. makes noise mostly when i'm at traffic lights. if i pump brakes or move steering wheel sound goes away and comes back. occasionally if i have brakes on and go around a corner power steering get hard (kinda gone feeling)
lately it's making a slight buzzing/beeping sound. i just did the thing where you pump the brakes/move the steering wheel to get air bubbles out of the power steering fluid. the whirring/wheeze is now more of a low level noise.
what fixed it for you? i don't know if it's hoses, brake bomb, power steering pump, or regulator/check valve? i have replaced the filter which was fine (no broken pieces, etc).
noise seems to be from connection where lower + upper hoses are on power steering pump. thanks.
