I was following my wife in her 2008 X3 the other day and I noticed that the rear tires seem to be exhibiting an inward camber. The rear tires were slanted slightly in at the top as compared to the front tires or the rear tires of other vehicles. Is this "normal" and are all X3's setup this way?

That's typical of all BMWs, and perhaps more so (or just more noticeable) on the X series. It aids in handling during cornering. Take your X3 to a BMW CCA track day and enjoy!

Yeah, all BMW's are that way. It does look a little awkward though, and is more noticeable on the X's since they sit a little higher.

Thanks. Just wanted to verify that it was "standard".

I noticed this too when my wifes 07 was parked in the garage. Then a couple of days later I happened to be behind her going down the road and I found it was not noticable when the car is moving. It's only visable when it's stopped. There's probably a little German gremlin in there that controls it. Just kidding.
A BMW Service Manager friend of mine says it's supposed to be like that. BYW, this X-3 actually tracks a little better than my 08 535i. I love the size and the overall of the 535 but the 3 series seems just a little better balanced.

The negative camber makes the vehicle look cooler and more hunkered down. Have any of y'all actually tried the full handling capabilities? Out here in the mountain roads, I've gotten the chance (not that I haven't done so the past 3 years) and you really appreciate the steering, chassis, and overall feedback. There are downhill corners that have a recommended speed of 20mph; I take them at near 50mph (with all the "powerrrrr".........Top Gear fans will know what I mean ;) ) and the car is capable of even more!
