Climate Control headache

I had the typical CCU problem where it would intermittently turn off and then come back on either 5 seconds or 5 minutes later. I read the forums and found that it was just the climate control going bad. I got another unit from a junkyard and popped it in. It worked great for the half hour drive home from work. I left to go out to eat last night and when I started the car the display was out again.

I got done eating and left to go to a party and en route it started working again. When I left the party last night it was off and never came back on during the half hour drive home.

Is it possible the replacement unit is bad or should I check something else?

If the malfunctions experienced by both CCU are identical or very similar then it is highly unlikely that both CCUs are bad. If the malfunctions experienced by both CCU are different then it is very possible that you purchased a defective unit.

Do you have decent soldering skills? If this is the same problem that I had in my CCU and you determine that both units are indeed experiencing it, then you can fix it for under $1.
