:dunno:I've got an BMW 320ci from 98, an just last week, the yellow light for the rollover protection system started to stay lit, indicating something about the rollover protection system.

Usually when I start the car, the lights for everything in the dashboard is on, and then turns off after a few seconds. But now the light for the Rollover Protection system doesn't turn off again.

Does anybody know what this means? is there a problem with the Rollover Protection System? or is it just a signal for regular check up, of the system?

Please help.

For your info, the car got to 160.000 kilometers just 500 kilometers ago - hence my guess that there isn't a problem with the Rollover protection System; just in need of a check up.

N.b.
160.000kilometers = aprox 100.000 miles

Best regards Martin R Dahl.

......s there a problem with the Rollover Protection System? or is it just a signal for regular check up, of the system...

It is not a signal for regular check up and is an indication that there is a fault in the system.

Thanks for a quick reply.

Got any idea what this fault might be?

is it ordinary that a Rollover Protection System becomes Faulty?

Hoping for non-expensive fix? :tsk:

No, it is very rare that it becomes faulty. Have there been any work done to the car prior to the warning light, audio install or otherwise?

What about driving into big pot holes at fast speeds? I once drop over the top of the hill only to find a huge pot hole on the other side which blew out my tire and set off the Rollover Protection on my car.

Once the light is illuminated, you do need to reset the OBD to shut it off after the fault is identified and repaired.

Get the codes read and save yourself the restless nights. No point in wild stabs in the dark when the answer is 20 minutes away.

Good Luck

thanks Mary99.

I haven't had any work done lately or driven over any pot-holes at fast speeds lately...
but i recon that i'll just have to contact the BMW-dealer, for a check-up.
