E36 Heater Console

Just wondered if you could replace an E36 manual heater console (with knobs) with the digital climate control console?

And if so what is involved.

I believe one of the members here tried to and couldn't. For some reason, apparently you need to change out the heater core and everything. That involves expensive parts, and removing the whole dash. Is it really worth it to you? Lol.

Taking the dash out isn't a problem. So the heater matrix will need to be changed to accommodate the new controls?

Oh, well if you're willing to pull the dash to swap controls, then yeah, its doable. There are a few other things I believe need to be changed too, but the heater core is the most involved. Everything else is fairly minor.
