View Full Version : BMW tire pressure recommendation - 41 PSI - too high?

I was inspecting the rear tires on our 528i, and I noticed that while the edges of the tread still haven't reached their wear indicators, the centers have already worn out.

The rear tires were inflated to the specs on the driver side doorjamb - 41 psi - but in retrospect that seems excessive, especially compared to that for the fronts (33 psi), which incidentally have been more regular in wear. BMW didn't make a distinction between a partial or full load, on either the doorjamb or owners manual.

Would I be well advised to lower the rear tire pressure to, say, 36 or 33 psi?

That does seem a bit high for standard driving. Does your owners manual have any more details or alternate pressures? I'll see what our load index info says. What year is the 528i? Sport package?
