Is it possible to get a nice 2-Way paging remote start and keyless entry on an e30? I dont know much about these ( not e30's, the remote systems ). How hard would one be to wire up? Yes this is a manual transmission car, if that poses any problems (I am sure it does).
I also read these things can open your trunk, parking lights, windows, ac, you name it. How much of this could I actually get working?
Any reccommended brands if this is possible?
Thanks guys.

i dont reccomend remote start on a manuel car. it only takes one time you leaving the car in gear and starting it for there to be a serious accident. a guy who used to work at my moms shop had remote start on his black 325i and he clicked it one day not even thinking about it. and the car bucked and went through my moms shop door. thats just something to think about.

Isnt that outdated, as they make setups that will detect if its in gear and not start up, or they engage the clutch, atleast from what I have read.

it all depends on the setup you buy. i dont know anymore about it then what my first post said. i have never had remote start on my car for the simple fact of erics going through the garage door.

with the older cars you can get the auto start. but having to do the same thing everytime you lock the car for it to start keyless is ridiculous. from what one of the guys that i was talking to said "you have to disengage the clutch, pull the emergancy brake, shut the car off, let the clutch out, and lock the doors, or else it wont start with the remote." and if one thing is off, is wont start

haha, that would be pretty wild. but im pretty good about leavin my car in neutral when i park, though if my dad and i go cruising and he drives hell park and leave it in first ( and it drives me insane ). I know they make remote starts specifically for manual cars though.

even a keyless entry would be nice though. whats the consensus on glass sensors and car alarms? putting a new audio system in my car makes me paranoid, especially it being an older vehicle, making it easier to break into i guess.

some people know what theyre doin. they could break into a brand new escalade with a "unstealable" system and get it out in five minutes flat. not just with the deck, the wiring and all the goodies to sell on ebay for $500.
i would go with a decent deck and lock the doors. cause if the person is desperate enough, alarm or not, hes makin away with that deck.

detachable faceplate. it wont save your speakers or any of that. but it would save your hu, and saving one thing is better then losing it all.

yea, my hu only cost 200 bucks, and yes it has detachable face plate, the rest of my system was like 1400, lol.... but i understand, atleast the car alarm is a detterent, and if i get that 2way paging system it would let me know if the alarm went off, maybe i can deter him a little further? haha. i dont really know, just makes me feel a little bit safer.
i think im going to get my windows tinted so its a little harder to make out whats actually inside the car.

tinted windows can also draw theives. cuz if your tinting them maybe its to hide something, and now they cant se what it is, so they break in. if your system is in your trunk you shouldnt have anything to worry about

wow, i never even thought of it like that. yea all my amps and subs are in the trunk, but i still have some component speakers and tweeters inside, although i tried to use pretty plain looking grills for them.

i had polk speakers in my rear dash and in the kickpanels also.
without any tint or alarm or anything and nobody ever touched my car. i used to worry about it no matter where i parked it. i knew they couldnt get the subs and amps in the trunk. do you live somewhere where break ins happen alot ?

i do custom fiberglass work when i feel like it. that door was a project to use up some of the fiberglass i had left over after i made my speaker box.

i have pics of the door panel somewhere around here. the panel is sittiing behind me. i used to have them on photobucket but i dont have them on there anymore. ill post them when i find them.
im selling my m50 and all my swap parts after i recover from surgery so i can do a small block chevy v8 swap. its alot more unique, it has alot more power, and its cheaper to modify.

its a 1995 vanos m50it has 115k, all the work was done at the dealer. it has the obd1 wiring harness, alternator, ps pump, the exhaust manifolds and it comes with the e32 735 brake booster/master cylinder and the e36 motor mount brackets.(i sold the ecu) i have an e36 318is tranny, shift linkage, clutch, flywheel and starter also, but im not sure if that tranny works with the swap. i was thinking about selling all of it for $1200 to 1300. but im not real sure about the price yet.
im doign the v8 swap cuz its easily modded to high hp for less money, it has way more torque and nobody would expect a little e30 to have a chevy v8 under the hood. its pretty much just easier for my budget.

yea i know but, its like abandoning the roots, not even a bmw engine under the hood. dosnt seem very authentic, but good luck lol.
let me know when you plan to get rid of it, if you dont already have offers man, i havent found anything locally yet, been to a few yards, but thats about the only place i know to go looking.

i was trying to keep it all bmw, but i want a street beast for low to no money, and everytrhing bmw costs alot of money. the v8 conversion is alot easier, its 80% fabrication instead of the m50 which is 50% wiring, 50% installing parts and required a good bank account.
ill post it on here when i get around to selling it after recovery.
