Steering Woes

I'm a first time writer, so bear with me. I recently bought a, '88 528 E with 262,000 miles on it. It's actually a replacement for mjy old '88 528 that had 303,000 miles before my trans finally decided it was time. It was actually mostly my own fault because I honestly hadn't done much, if any, service on it.

Anyway, back to my new/old Bimmer. The engines great, the4 trans is good, the bodies in nearly perfect shape. But the problem is in the sterring and tracking. Compared to my old Bimmer, this steering is sloppy and seems to take too much turn on the wheel to make it quick enough. For example, when going into a reasonably sharp turn at, there's a moment of hesitation as if the wheels are turning.

If anyone has an idea, please write me back. I'm getting kind of nervous about it because of what one mechanic told me.

Thanks,
RH Parker
