I would like to know if there is any difference in quality in the new328i series assembled in south africa as compared to the ones assembled in germany// Has anyone had a bad experience with cars assmbled in south africa?? Thanks Louise

E90/E91/E92/E93 (2006 - current) forum (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=99), but from what I understand it's an excellent plant.

A South African factory has scooped a stunning award, with BMW***8217;s Rosslyn plant near Pretoria winning for its Munich parent the vote of best BMW manufacturing plant in Europe and second-best vehicle manufacturing plant in the world in a major US ratings survey. http://www.southafrica.info/doing_business/sa_trade/exporting/rosslyn.htmAnd more recently as of about 3 months ago, J.D. Powers ranked it the top manufacturing plant (for reliability) in South Africa, beating out Mercedes, Honda, Toyota, and Lexus.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - December 7, 2007: For the first time since the inception of the study in 2004, BMW ranks highest in initial quality among passenger vehicle nameplates in South Africa, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 South Africa Initial Quality Study(SM) (IQS) released today.

With 142 PP100, BMW earns the highest rank among passenger vehicle nameplates. Honda (145 PP100) follows BMW in the rankings. Rounding out the top five are Subaru (147 PP100), Mercedes-Benz (163 PP100) and Volvo (174 PP100).

My '01 and '07 were built there, no issues whatsoever.
