Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with the window wipers on my 1992 320i (E36).
When I push the wiper stalk downwards from the off position, this triggers a single pass of the wipers, as expected. However for some reason the wipers do not automatically return to their starting position; rather they stop as soon as you release pressure on the spring-loaded wiper stalk.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to what might be the cause of this problem?
I wonder if there is a sensor in there somewhere that tells the motor when to stop. Perhaps the sensor is faulty? Or a relay somewhere that isn't staying closed for the correct amount of time? Unfortunately I don't know much about the cars design, and I don't have an owners manual to hand.
