Im looking for a new Intake bellow but Im not sure which one to buy.The only one i can find is on http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/PEL_search.cgi?command=show_part_page&please_wait=N&make=BMW&model=BE36&section=FULint&page=2&bookmark=4&part_number=13-71-1-247-031-M9. My car is a 1996 318is M44 made 05/1996 USA version.
My only problem in figuring out which one to get is that I dont know what or how to tell if i have this thing that pelican is calling ASC+T.
I think it means Automatic Shift Control + Traction. Or something to that sort but I have no clue what that is either.

I know some people are already thinking "Why not just put a CAI on it?"
Well I would considering I had the money for it. The ones that I have found are in 200+ range and right now or in the far future doesnt seem that Ill be having that much money to spend like that.

Thank you for yalls help. Any information even if you think otherwise is useful.

I think if you type your VIN into realoem.com, you should get the correct part no tht you can search for on pelican. Alternatively, ASC+T should be shown on dash during ignition if you have it. it lights up then off. It's right in the middle, the icon is like a arrow circling something. You should also get a ASC button next to the cig lighter for switching it off.

Also, it's Automatic Stability Control Plus Traction.

i checked realoem and they dont even have the intake bellow... i searched every tab and every part.
This ASC+T button isnt the button you use to switch from Auto to Manual is it? the one that says A on one side and M on the other?

Like furni said ASC+T means Automatic Stability Control Plus Traction. SO when you turn it off you will have a light on your dash with an arrow around it meaning its off. I own a 1997 318is m44 and i know exsacly what part ur talking about i had to change it out last week. If you car has ASC+T (Which you can check by looking beside your cig lighter. U'll have a button that says ASC bellow it. ANd if you do have ASC than ur gunna want part # 13-71-1-433-979-M9 on pelicanparts.com. But you can just simple look at the boot under your hood and find teh right one.. Both boots are pretty different.
