hey guys
had my 318is for like 2 months now
the locks are rooted...
to lock the car, i have to push the door, rather hard, just infront of the handle, then turn the key, and you hear it lock, then it clicks and stays locked.
if u dont push it, it locks, then like 1 second later, the whole car unlocks again..
whats gion on and how do i fix? any ideas?

I hope you find an answer.
When I read your post and saw 'rooted' I smiled, then when I saw you are also from Aus it all made sense!

If the problem is the striker you can replace them. I replaced both of mine a while ago. The part is not too exoensive.
