Thanks to the ever so patient Dave I now have the amazing Rogue Octane SSK, and transmission mounts installed on my car. All I can say is WOW!!
If you've never experienced a short shift kit you do not know what you are missing. Shifts are precise and extremely short. Feeling the gear lever engage never made me so sure of a shift before. I do not know if its strictly the Octane shifter, the transmission mounts, or the royal purple fluid that made the difference but I am extremely satisfied with the outcome.

I do feel a little bad though, poor Dave had a taste of Canadian road salt. Sorry about that Dave, I sould have washed the undercarriage before I came. I also feel bad that it took a little more time than normal for the job.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Dave's lovely wife Marie, and another Biarritz Blue beast that belonged to Dave's neighbour Alex.

All I have to say is that if you EVER need anything done to your E39, and live in the NY/NJ/DC/VA/MD are, it surely is worth the trip to visit Dave and get it done PROPERLY.

PS: Dave the shifter is crazy!! Thanks a million.
PPS: Dave, I didn't blow a catalytic converter this time around....

Wow, you really did a full workover of your tranny! It'll be hard to separate what really did what. Everything you got should only add to the shifting pleasure.

I have the Octane and CDV done in my 530i.

I have RE's tranny mounts and some Synchromax ready to go but I've been too damn busy to install everything. I really, really, should get on it...sigh. :(

I know, but I don't really live that close to Dave to be able to make frequent trips to see him in order to individually see what each product does to the car. All I do know is that its even more fun to drive now...

Hmm, Montreal to New Jersey...that is a decent haul but probably a beautiful trip...especially in a BMW! :D

When I got my RE SSK, the so-called "Octane" package didn't exist. I just bought the SSK and WSR.

I was VERY tempted to just change out the stock shifter and see how it felt for a couple weeks and then do the WSR and see how it felt but utter laziness enveloped me and I just did both. At least I had done the CDV several months earlier to truly know what that change felt like.

I am sure when I get to the tranny mounts that I'll go ahead and change out the fluid as well.

Glad you are enjoying shifting all over again! :D

Crossed the border at 10:20am, got to Dave's around 3:00pm. Making good time sharing the roadway w/ an Audi A6 2.7T.

I recently purchased Axis Deluxe Plus brake pads for my E30 thru Dave and it was so painless, I almost forgot I ordered them when the shipment arrived a few days later!

Thanks Dave!

You're absolutely right about that, Bill! For those who have not have the pleasure of meeting DaveZ, he is a great person. And his wife, Maria, she is one helluva woman...they are two of the most awesome people I have met!

It is cool you got the mods...congrats. How was the drive?

When I saw the title of this thread, "Zeckhausen Racing Rules!!" I actually jumped and my first thought was that the admins of the board had just clamped down and issued some new, restrictive rules to my postings. :yikes:

It was a nice surprise to see such kind words instead.

Greco, I think I STILL taste salt in my mouth from spending a couple hours under your car.

Today was a really fun day here, spent installing a 4-wheel Brembo kit on an E46 M3. I had more fun bedding those brakes in than I have in a long time. Calipers were silver and the car was blue. Very pretty combo. Just now catching up on my emails and phone messages.

When I get back home this weekend I'll post a couple of the pics I took on Tuesday for all to see. Including that Brembo big brake kit Dave just installed on the M3.

Dave, your welcome. I say things the way they are, no BSing around from me. Why else would I come 600 miles for....

PS: I'mgoing ot try installing my CELIS LED Rears this afternoon. Will let y'all know how that goes...
