Hello everyone,
My name is James I just pick up a 1993 325I with 125,000 miles on for $700 bucks. It was a car that was repossess from Texas. It has no rust that’s and that a good thing since I live in Ohio. The body has some dents on it and the hood is bent up a little bit right in front on the emblem someone was probably trying to still the BMW emblem.
I never owned a BMW before. I had always owned fords and I still have a full size ford bronco. The problem with the bronco it get about 12 MPG that’s not good.

The 325 was not running when I got it she wouldn’t event turn over. After searching on Bimmerfest I figured how to jump it and I got it started I than replaced the battery. She would not idle at all I to keep giving her gas to stay started. So the next day I did a tune up replaced spark plugs changed gas filter along with the air filter. The air filter was in bad shape you couldn’t even see through it. I cleaned the MAF sensor. Couldn’t fine the IAC sensor so if some one could tell me where to look for it that would be great.

After doing the tune up and changing the oil which it look like it hasn’t been changed in a long time. The car runs great no more rough idle I got all my info I need to do the tune up by searching on Bimmerfest web site. I took it on a trip to Cleveland and the onboard computer was saying I was getting 26.7 MPG wow that’s great.

The sunroof doesn’t want to work. On side is setting below the roof line in think that’s why it won’t working. I did some searching and found a couple articles about sunroofs not working and tired some ideas but not thing has worked yet I tried holding the button closed to 15 to 20 seconds and nothing I can hear the motor running.

I’ll keep searching. I will be picking up a Bentley auto repair manual. So I can do most of the work myself I enjoy working on my own vehicles

Thanks
James

James,

Welcome to the fest. Also, check out ohiobimmers.com. There are a lot of us local. You have a great resource for used parts in Dover. It is called All Quality. It is over behind the fairgrounds.

The sunroof problem is most likely due to broken or worn lift blocks. There are many DIY's for this.

.

I had a 95 Eddie Bauer edition before i bought the bimmer. 3inch lift, 351 crate engine, 36s....i know where you're coming from about gas mileage haha.

As long as there's nothing really major wrong with your new purchase, i say you have gotten a sweet deal man!

Welcome to the Fest
