Agreed. I would definitely NOT hit it.

why would someone spend 78k on a M3?

that is a little ridiculous. 6 series? 555i next year? I like the M3 but if someone pays MSRP on that sucker, hope he or she enjoys seeing the value fall about 35% in one year.

come on now.

I do not like the trunk and bumper line on the rear end at all!!!

That's almost $20,000 more than a loaded 335I!

I just took short ride at lunch and in 5 ml stretch of 101 I see at list 5 750/745, few 650 and bunch of 5 and 3. :yikes:
I bet in few days I will see some one in M3 conv - it's Los Angeles, man!:D

The M3 vert is not any faster than a 6 series due to the weight. It is within 100lbs of a 650. :tsk:

The M3 and X6 are two vehicles where BMW missed the mark and the fact that they are sitting on the dealer lots makes my point.

The rear end is hideous.

I'm going to have to agree with you 100%!!! I would take my 335i Vert over that any day, and keep the $15,000 difference in the bank!

Forgive my ignorance, but aren't all the 3-series convertibles very very similar in the back? Or were you specifically talking about the M3 diffuser, bumper, etc.?

Since noone else wants it yet, I'll take it. ;)

I'll trade you my 02 E46 330 vert. Do we have a deal?

The diffuser, bumper and exhaust are ugly. I really hate the bumper.

What is so hideous about the back end?

I would say to much bumper, but overall, I like it.

The rear end looks like an aftermarket mod from BMWclub.com or whatever.

it is an obvious, "Quick, we have to get the M3 vert out next month, get a rear end on their quick."

Well the photo didn't show all of the options on the window sticker....you all know how easy it is to add 10 or 15K in options to a BMW.

I saw the new M3 sedan at BMW of SD on Friday and the base price was $53,800 and the total sticker price was over $66,000.

All you really need on the M3 is the iPod connection for $400....don't you think?

The car itself is great, you can't deny that. But I don't think I could afford it...Probably have to be a 335 convertible.

As Tommydog said, pretty much the entire bumper assembly. It's way too much and makes an already fat pig look even porkier.

Ya know, I never looked at the pic of the price till just now. OMG, a 3 series for more than $85K out the door....

Wow, so much for an M3 being the affordable everyman supercar.

My point is that a 3 series and an M3 are two different cars. You shouldn't mention two different animals in the same sentence to state one opinion. Unfortunately, where an M3 used to be a *completely* different animal then a regular 3 series, is not so much the case now with the N54 being created, the line has now thinned. With that being said, an M3 is still an M3, and a 3 series is still a 3 series, no matter which way you look at it.

I think the M3 vert is sexy

That wasn't my point. $85K for an M3 ( I do know the difference, I've had one) is insane. Don't get me wrong, I assume it's a great car, but a 3 series (after all, they are based on a 3 series) is supposed to be the entry level BMW. (at least until this year with the 1 series)

I do not know how the M3 convertible drives compared to the 335i convertible, but if the difference between the M3 'vert and the 335i 'vert are as different as the non 'vert M3 and 335i, then I will take the M3 in a heartbeat....I drove both the 335i, the M3 and a 135i at our recent Komen event....I drove the 335i first and thought it was great.....and then, I drove the M3....I am sorry, the M3 BLEW the CR*P out of the 335i...everything I liked about the 335i went out the window.....heck, I liked the performance of the 135i over the 335i....I still think that the 335i is a great car.....just nothing compared to an M3....or maybe even the 135i...

Now, it would be fun to drive both an M3 convertible as well as a 335i convertible to see if my opinion would change....likely not

Cheers,

Jever

My first thought when I saw the bumper was something like "that's from the previous generation of Honda Accords."

Every dealer got the same one. It's Jerez Black over Silver Novillo. Sweet indeed.
