FS in San Diego: 1988 BMW 325iX

I dunno...I'm kinda over it. I never, ever drive it, I'm tired of working on it, and I don't want to spend anymore of my money on cars. My newest obsession is buying a house and getting a dog, so I figure I will put my iX up tentatively for sale. If someone gives me what I want for it, great...if not, I'll keep it and it's all the same to me.

Rear shock mounts (purchased, but not installed)
Thermostat (purchased, but not installed)

The car would also come with a spare transmission and transfer case.

There is more, I just can't remember it all. The car has a stack of service records at least 2 inches thick. Ben and I bought it from the 2nd owner who had the car for 12 years and took great care of it. The AC works, it passed smog a few months back with flying colors, the paint is shiny, but has a few dings and chips. I've spent countless hours slaving away over this thing. I'm proud of what I've done with it, it's really a fantastic car that drives very well, but I can't get past my Suby obsession, and I hate working on my own car...

Anyway, I want $8,000 OBO. If you think I'm absolutely nuts, but had no intention of buying the car in the first place, I don't care. If you think I'm absolutely nuts, but might be interested, PM me and we can negotiate. I'm willing to assist with shipping. Like I said before, if I keep it, great. If I sell it, great. Keep in mind that every single part I've put on this car is OE or OEM, and has been installed by a BMW master tech. Imagine how much that would have cost if you had taken your car to the dealer, handed them the list of parts I've replaced, and had them do it! Easily $10,000. Man, if only I got paid to work on my own car.

Yes, it's still available. Timing belt has not been replaced, but I was planning to do it before the car goes to its new owner. Since I never drive it, I haven't been in a hurry to replace it.

If you keep this car for a few more years, it might actually bottom out in value and start appreciating because it is in such good condition. I can't say the same for San Diego real estate, which will probably go down 30% a year for many years to come!

It's going to take a while for that chart to get back to 0% appreciation. Remember that this is not adjusted for inflation, so it really needs to be positive 5% nominal appreciation to be 0% in real terms.

Hm, if you're right, then I'm doing this all wrong. I shouldn't have bought the house, I should have bought E30s instead! I just posted in my Bimmerforums for sale thread that if the car doesn't sell on eBay, I'm going to stick it in the garage under the cover for another 10 years, then try again.

What a pity the car is in the USA! not practicle to import it to New Zealand or id buy it! I have never ever seen an E30 'iX over here!

I actually got a message from a guy on eBay who lives in Australia but plans to come to the states soon. He was thinking about buying it to drive around while he's here, then shipping it back. I thought it was a cool idea, I hope he does it.
