The question was posed somewhere else, and I was curious. What is your opinion of the interior of the E90 series cars?

There's no imagination or creativity at all, whatsoever, in the interior of the new 3-series. The 1-series has a slightly better interior. The dash of a 3 is basically two straight lines, with trim in between, and a univeral centre stack that's a rectangle so as to reduce production costs between RHD and LHD countries.

I like the elegant simplicity.

I love my car, but there is nothing to brag about with the interior...I often feel I have to apologize for it. But hate is a strong word. No, I don't hate it, but don't love it either.

Agreed.... I wish there was a little bit more "umph" to the dash board. It's plain, but I don't hate it.

In my opinion, BMW interiors hit their peak with the E38/E39/E46 generation (i.e. late 90s). They looked and felt fairly upscale yet retained their Teutonic "feel" and driver-oriented ergonomics. BMW came very close to Audi at that point, which was and remains the benchmark for interior design (aesthetics + functionality/ergonomics).

The new generation interiors aren't horrible, but they lack that same feel as their predecessors.
