Royal Red/Caramel with OEM Angel Eye and Foglight upgrade, this M5 is superbly maintained and in amazing condition. Brand new Toyo T1-R tires. The suspension is upgraded with Koni Sport, Ground Control camber plates, and a Dinan Rear Sway Bar. No accidents, No snow/salt, and a Non-Smoker. Recent service in the last 12 months includes all of the typical "middle aged" E39 M5 repairs and preventive maintenance. I have replaced the Clutch & Flywheel, Front Brake Pads and Rotors, Power Steering Hoses, Front Control Arm Bushings, O2 Sensors, Valve Cover Gasket, Spark Plugs and had other service and repairs performed to keep this car running in top form. WIth this maintenance record and the upgraded lights - you'll get the look and feel of a 2001 or 2002 without the upcoming maintenance costs. The leather upholstery is in fantastic shape. This car has always been garage kept and well cared for. The wheel finish is in great condition with no curb damage. The Koni dampers are tuned to a soft setting to keep ride optimal - they are adjustable as is the Dinan Rear Sway Bar. Recently - I put adjustable Ground Control Camber Plates on the front to help balance the car's handling. It now handles like it should from the factory: supple, but with great turn in, grip in the corners, and flat cornering without the harshness of stiffer springs. These modifications are moderate and offer a great balance between enhanced handling and ride quality. They also improve the car's appearance - reducing the wheel to fender gap without making the car too low.

After doing a bit of research - I've decided to price this car at $23,995 on my Autotrader listing, and offer it for a reduced price of $22,995 for any fellow BMW enthusiast that finds it via this post. This is priced below the KBB and NADA Retail and Private Party values. Not a reflection of it's value - but rather a reflection that I would rather offer a good deal to an individual buyer than auction it off or trade it in in a couple months when I take delivery on a new '08 M3.
I'll add some more pictures below. Also - check out the maintenance records on the .pdf file attached in the previous post. That's just the last 15K miles! I've been very proactive in keeping this car in top form and recommend to those of you that are considering buying a 2000-2002 M5 to look closely at what repairs and wearable component replacements have been performed on the car before you buy it. The miles between 65K and 85K are going to be expensive if you want to keep it running/driving well. I maintained mine at a high level because that is half of the fun for me. I run an automotive restoration shop and keeping cars like new is our business.

Also, here are the "upgrades":
2001+ Angle Eye headlights, 2001+ Foglights
Koni Sport Adjustable Dampers Front and Rear
H&R Springs and Ground Control Camber Plates on the front
H&R 10mm Spacers on the front (with 10mm longer lugs)
Dinan Adjustable Rear Sway Bar
UUC Short Shifter
Truly beautiful car. How many miles did you say are on it? Wish I could afford it, but alas, my budget will restrict me to an '03 540i. G/L with the sale--I suspect it'll go this week at that price!

There are approx 88,500 miles on it. The 540i will be a nice car if you go that route. Just don't make the mistake of driving an M5 while your looking! :) That's what happened to me about 4 years ago when I bought this one CPO.
These cars are running strong well above 125K - 150K miles, and realistically mine is "middle aged". My engine is free of the "Carbon build-up" and high oil consumption some of the S62s deal with. Niether is really an issue for performance or longevity, they can just get expensive if you have to Smog test your car.

absolutely beautiful car....super car for the price of a new civic.. any paintwork on that car?? Is the title clean?

Yes - I agree - it's a great price! (I'm a reasonable guy)
The title is clean. There is no paint work, no accidents. The overall condition of the paint finish is excellent with the exception of the typical "road rash" that the front of these E39s have. (Small rock chips and abrasion from sand). I've filled any that chipped to the primer with OEM touch up paint.
I just had a couple very small door dings removed from the body, and there is absolutely no trace of them. Excellent work done.
There is a scratch on the driver side door that I had repaired with OEM touch up paint. It's not noticeable from a typical walk-around. You have to be inspecting the finish to notice it. It probably won't show up in pictures with the camera I have.

Wish I could, planned on keeping it until I saw the '08 M3 Sedan at the BMW Performance Center. Now I'm dyin' for one of those and I just don't have the $ or garage space to keep the M5. It would be a 4th car. (I also have an '84 528e that my father bought new that is in good shape that I use daily.)

I've still got the "5" emblem...I just prefer the simplicity of the ///M only :)
If you want to buy it, I'll personally help you reinstall it!
P.S. - grew up in PG County :-)

Sold for $19,750. In hindsight, this was a bad time to sell given market conditions...but when you've got the new car bug it's hard to shake. I expected to get somewhere around $22,000 for it when I first listed it back in May, but that was in hopes of finding the "perfect buyer".
Ended up selling to a BMW fan - his first M car.
