I've always wondered how cruise control worked on manuel cars?

It works the same as with autos. It sets the speed in the gear you have in use. Once you push in the clutch, cruise becomes cancelled. Change gears and there is no cruise. Get back into the gear that you set it in, and hit resume - and there you are.

not true...if you set the cruise in 4th, then shift to 5th you can still hit resume on the cruise and it will (you don't have to reset it). It is true that hitting the brake or the clutch will suspend cruise until you resume it. The computer remembers the speed not the rpms.
