What version DVD does the 2008 X3 use? I read somewhere that it uses the professional DVD but I don't remember that as correct and can't imagine the software/computer changed between 2006 and 2008. The only versions I can remember are High, Business and Professional. I believe my 2006 uses "high"

Navigation option 609 is Professional. That is the only NAV version sold in the US market. I looked at bmw.co.uk and that is the only nav version sold for '08. AFIAK that is the same level we've always had.
I'm not sure about the other years in other markets. There was a NAV on some euro BMWs built into the radio. I looked into doing a retro fit on our e36/5 head unit.
Edit: found this with google. Someone hacked the old system into an e46 touring.

Here are some other X3 options. Not sold as individual options in the US. If you look at your build sheet, you may see some of them.
6FA DVD system prep.
601 TV function
676 Hi-Fi loud speaker system. (This is the standard system in the US)
677 Professional DSP system (Sold as Premium audio system in the US)
662 BMW Business radio with single CD (Standard in the US)

You need the "High" version.
If you're looking to buy off of Ebay the sellers usually do a good job of describing which systems they fit.

I'm pretty sure professional is only on new generation vehicles like 3er, 5er, etc..X3 still has the old bus so I need to confirm this now since both people say different

That's what I thought, I'm going to check the version in my car but I'm not asking about 2006, I'm wondering about 2008 if it has changed at all because I'm getting a 2008 and I have some old Euro discs that worked in both 2005 and 2006 so want to make sure they work in 2008

lilskel, I know you're asking about the 2008's and that's what I'm confirming for you. I own a 2008 and you need the "High" version. I've used both 2006 and my new 2008 euro disks in my 2008 X3 and they both work fine..

Sorry I thought you were asking about the hardware, not the disks.
