We purchased our first MB in August of last year. C300 sport, P1 package, leather, optional 18's. It's nice, and because it's the wife's car, she's very happy with it.

On second thought...I rented a C class MB in Germany last year. It was a diesel, four cylinder with a manual tranny.

It was a lot of fun to drive and surprisingly responsive on the Autobahn.

no way.

no contest......
(this, in spite of the fact that the desperate LA benz dealers were willing to literally let me write my check for whatever amount "under invoice" i wanted....)

It makes sense to me. I don't really care if they get together for some basic components, like a/c compressors, brake shoes, etc. I think most of the sharing would be on the 3 Series/C-Class.

Someday maybe they'll merge. Hey, it beats merging with chrysler.

So why does the prospect of BMW and MB jointly subcontracting AC compressors and seat frames prompt these anti-
MB rants? I doubt that either company designs or manufactures those components anyway.

Does it infringe BMW purity that sometimes you get radios, cd players, and speakers from the same company in BMWs and MBs? What about spark plugs? Mufflers? Tires?

Wife just got the MB C350Sport. Hands down the most seamlessly integrated electronics. Voice recognition in particular is fast and accurate. BMW would do well to pay attention.
