I haven't driven the new engine but have already ordered it...how much quicker is it from a stop and while driving? More fun to drive? Noticeable? This is compared to 2006 and earlier 3.0

Anybody remember what 0-60mph was for 2006?

In the two '08's I have driven I couldn't tell any difference in performance between them and my '06. In fact my car seemed quicker off the line with the five speed, but that is strictly a "seat of the pants" observation. I was really trying to see if there was any improvement in the ride quality. I didn't discern any real difference in ride over bad pavement.

Did you mean to type 6.9 for the 2007 MT 0-60 time? 6.9 for MT and 7.1 for AT are what BMW lists for 2008 0-60 times.

Yea, with a manual, it'd be closer to 7sec.

Well 8/10ths of a second faster from 0-60 is probably why I didn't feel any improvment in the "seat of my pants" whilst driving the new ones. I wonder what the time from 0 to 30 would be? That's where the '06 felt stronger.

The Valvetronic has a softer throttle response. Plus, the 6-speed AT is geared very wierd.........1st is so short that it feels like the car is stumbling over itself.

I own a 2004 3.0. Had it in the shop to get the sunroof fixed. I drove an 08 loaner for over a week in Houston traffic. I agree with AzNMpower32, it shifts in and out of first quite a bit.
The 08 has more power but to me does not shift and drive like a BMW (not like any I have owned ) I told the service manager that if that is how the 08 is suppose to shift and I owned one that I would sit down and cry. My 04 is so much more smoother ( the transmission). Both have a stiff ride:)

Is your new rig built yet, or on a boat?
