Of the eleven colors available on the '04 330Ci, ten are available for inspection on my dealer's lot -- most, of course, not on '04 coupes, but it doesn't take too much imagination to see the color on a 2003 330i, and imagine it on a 2004 330Ci.

So, after pondering my choices (color is always the last thing on the agenda for me; I'd already decided on options), I made my decision -- and picked the one color that was not on the lot.

I wanted something a bit different (no disrespect to TiSilver owners -- there's a reason it's popular: it looks damn good, and for the same reason, my guess is that silver gray is going to be extraordinarily popular, too), and I figured the color my dealer didn't have would be a color I wouldn't see on the road every hour.

Of course, I didn't specify it only because it was unusual -- I like it too, as least as far as I have been able to see from the couple I've noticed on the road (fleeting glances only), and the few pics posted on this site. So, I'm guessing I'll have one of the more unusual exterior/interior combos of the standard offerings. If anyone here has "my" combination, I'd love to see a pic. But it's a moot point, 'cause I've ordered it, sight unseen, for July delivery...

My fourth BMW on the way, so I guess you could call me a satisfied customer...

IMHO, the best way to judge color is to go to the lot.

Well, of course it is. And that was my intent, but it just didn't work out that way. As I said, I wanted something a little different, and given that all eleven exterior colors are more than acceptable (unlike some of the offerings in the M3 or on the Z3 -- urban green, anyone? : puke: ), I'm not taking too much of a risk by being a little impulsive.

In fairness, I had ruled out a few colors even before touring the lot. Since I have to traverse a quarter mile of gravel road each time in and out of my place (remember the comedian Jeff Foxworthy? "If the directions to your house include the words 'when you get to the end of the pavement,' you might be a redneck."), I ruled out the non-metallics and the very dark metallics. So I made my choice from among the light-to-medium metallics. And I picked "the road less travelled by."
