Buying a 1995 740il

Hoping some of you could help me in the purchasing of a 1995 740 il. First off it has about 100,000 miles on it. So I'm trying to get and idea of a fair price for it and things to watch out for. Any information would greatly be appreciated.

What has changed on the E38 since 95?

Go to edmunds.com (http://edmunds.com) and navigate to used car prices for 740iL. I did it and it looked like going rate from private party is $13,868 in my area, $16233 from a dealer.

We had a 95 740iL and we traded it in somewhere around the 115K mark. The "old" AC unit had been replaced early on, maybe in the car you are looking at it has already been replaced.

A minor inconvenience was that all of the sun shades (the screens that rolled up) would always seem to go off track and sometimes would not pull out. It turned out the pieces inside were plastic/rubber, and would expand easily in the heat, so they were replaced with metal parts instead.

Right around the 100K, the catalytic converter went out and started rattling. There was a post in the 7 series board that had a great deal of information pertaining to the problems that might have occured.
