I have a 93 318i with the 1.8. I finally got it running only to find that the guy that sold it to me had rigged up a hose and it started leaking. I have no clue what this hose is. When looking at the engine, it is on the bottom right hand of the block behind the oil filter. One line I know branches off and goes up towards the intake manifold. Can anyone tell me what this line is? I think it is harder than a regular hose not exactly sure. Haven't taken things apart to get to it. Just got the car running, got excited and then saw this leak and said screw it for the night. PLEASE HELP. Thank you

What is coming out of the hose?
Water, oil?
Maybe you should just replace the hose and fit new clamps.
Don't forget a bmw is like most other cars and often a bit of thought is all you need.
Read the Bentley manual ( there is a free download somewhere) and also have a look at the Haynes (UK) manual.

Sway,

1. Like doggee said, what is coming out, water or oil?
2. Inspect where the hose is running from and where it's running to.
3. If you still don't know, try posting some pics of the hose that's leaking. (Don't forget to mark it)

Hope this can help you out

To me it sounds like the bottom radiator hose that leads to the heater matrix and engine block. It feels very hard on my car probably because it is old and fatigued, and it's not as big a hose as the other coolant ones.

Post a picture that is the best thing you can do, or look up in a manual what the different hoses are.

sorry....didn't put that in there....well I tracked it down. It is a coolant hose connector. It is only a 9 dollar part but looks like a million dollar job at replacing it.....any tips??? :-)
