Possible rattling issue [Archive] - bimmerfest

I know that my RSM's aren't going bad again, for when I zoom around corners, there is no metalic noise like there was before.

On the other hand, there is a rattling sound that can be heard when I roll the passenger window down, and drive on a bumpy surface. It sounds kinda metalic/plastic.

Has anyone had similar issues? What are some possible components that are known to come loose?

I have the same exact problem. Whenever I roll my passenger side window down or close the door on my 99 328is I hear some kind of metal shifting around in the door panel. And I'm kind of ticked off because its the same door that I just had professionally reglued on. Now i'm thinking that my mechanic forgot to tighten something up. I just hope that my window continues to work.

Sorry that I can't help you out on this since I an dealing with the same problem. Hopefully there's someone else out here that has a better clue than me.

I had a rattling noise a while ago. You could only really hear it when you opened the windows. It seemed to make a noise every time you went over a bump. And it sounded as though it was coming from the just behind the door (I have the coupe). The noise was like a light piece of metal or plastic flapping about.

Turned out it was part of my exhaust that had come loose. See this thread http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283731

You may not have the same problem but it is worth checking out.
