Hi everyone,

I have been following thru threads on this matter, but i seem to find no joy with my car at the moment. It starts fine and idle's perfect as well, is just that when it warms up, it tends to just stall at low RPM, driving on motorways are perfect it's only when its traffic this happens. When the engine tends to stall, the instrument cluster panel becomes erratic as all the needles of the Temp guage, fuel gauge, speedo and rpm goes to zero as if the ignition is switched off and then back to normal again.

Also, figured out that when i tend to accelerate quickly(sudden acceleration) this tends to happen. It happens more frequently when the engine gets warmer.

I have now changed the Crankshaft Postion Sensor, Camshaft Postion Sensor, Cleaned out the ICV, checked for vacuum leaks - none seen at all. It's really annoying!! Had new rocker cover gasket installed as the old one had leaks that was getting engine oil into the spark plug cylinders. Plugs changed. Don't really know what to do next.

Please help!!

yeah...e36's can be annoying like that. maybe the icv is not working period. check the coltage, i think it should be 12 ohms (not too sure though). make sure you checked the throttle body boot well cause it has lots of wrinkles. it could be torn slightly somewhere.

also check your fuel pump/filter cause it might not deliver fuel properly when you suddenly accelerate.

somethings to think about

check the electrical. sounds like a bad ground or loose wire. i would first check the battery cables. then the alternator. somewhere it is loose. i say this because at speed, the alternator supplies most of the power to the car. at idle, the battery kicks in some power.
