Hey guys, I'm looking to pick up a paint meter gauge and I'm trying to see if there is anyone else on here who's looking to get one soon. I've seen these on ebay, and also online, and they do have discounted pricing for volume purchases. Seems like many dealers are purchasing this unit, and it must work. Let me know if there is any interest on here and I'll call the vendor to get more details.
You can check out their specs on www.wholesalepaintmeters.com or ebay.com
Here is what they are selling:
Single Unit = $389
Four Units = $315
I think with 4 people we can each save $64 which is not bad. Maybe we can get even more savings if we get more than 4?
If you think there is a better one for <$400 let me know.
Thanks!

Hi there Stock545i,
There is an amazingly detailed and helpful thread on Autopia.org and they are already in the process of organizing a group buy to get the best budget paint meter on the Internet, the HighLine Paint Thickness Meter Gauge at HighLineMeter.com
Don't take my word for it, read Greg Nichols and SuperBee364's experiences yourself over there. The 488 you are looking at is a very low quality unit, they also carry the 502 for more money and that unit is practically identical to the HighLineMeter.com one.
If you are working on luxury high-end cars like the bimmers, you should really read all 130 postings on the Autopia.org forum about this exact topic.

Hi Carcat1,
Thanks for the tip, I'll check out autopia.org in detail. I just need a meter that works, not looking for anything fancy. It would be a nice addition to my toolbox. I've had to go w/ 3 friends to check out cars, and I've gotta tell you, sometimes it's hard to spot those paint lines.
If you get word of the group buy - let me know.

Stock545i, you will enjoy the wealth of knowledge at the Autopia.org forum. The folks there are friendly and helpful.
In fact, HighLineMeter.com (http://HighLineMeter.com) accepts Google Checkout and Google is currently offering a $10 off promotion to new sign-ups (http://www.google.com/checkout/promotions/#utm_source=us-en-et-bhp&utm_medium=et&utm_campaign=summer08).
If you have a few friends needing a paint meter, you should tell them about going over to Autopia.org and looking into HighLineMeter.com (http://HighLineMeter.com) They will definitely thank you for saving them money, and saving them from buying the inferior red product.
