Would you have any suggestions on areas of concern when having a professional inspect a 1998 323is w/ 142,000 miles? It has a manual transmission and is sold by the third owner.

I may be playing with fire buying a used car because my 318ti is running great with 160k but I just want a little more power than my 1995 has.

Can a good mechanic leave one with a pretty good foundation that no major problems could occur with a car of the above age?

I suppose I could have posted the craigslist link but have not, it is going for $6,400.

rear diff mounts
suspension bushings everwhere
aux fan in front of rqadiator
radiator and overflow tank are plastic and are ready to crack if nto replaced
steering rack intacts or leaking?
maybe has the plastic bladed water pump
do you have an obd II diagnostic tool?

see how many of the check engine lights, ABS lights, etc light up with the ignition on. They may well have had the bulbs removed

an experienced e36 inspector will zoom in on all these items and more....

good luck
