Please can anyone help. I have 1996 328i (E36).

This is a story when it happened. I had half tank of gas and filled up at some no name gas station to fill the tank. After the needle reached half tank, this is when all this started happening.

When i start the car you can hear the engine idling rough and see the rpm's going up and down. When i accelerate, it accelerates rough and feels like the car is mis firing. Once i reach at about 80 mph and step on the gas it feels fine. But anything less than 80 mph, when i get on the gas it accelerates rough. I checked the spark plug boots, they look dry, no leaking from the head gasket to foul them.

Could it be bad gas or water in the gas tank? or bad fuel filter?, I tried those fluids at advanced auto like fuel injector cleaner and the water out (for gas tanks).

Thanks, Any help would be greatly appreciated.

use up the remaining fuel. fill her up half a tank again. the inline fuel filter could be clogged with the gasoline you got. it coulda been dirty...
if the new gas gives the same problem id go onto thinking its the pump, or the filter...
steve.
p.s.
alot guys here know about how to test the pump..... its also easy to change so let me know if need help.

okay , i got the car running the way it should be..the problem was a bad ignition coil #6...i ordered a ignition coil and changed it. the car idles fine and accelerates smooth.
