After two days of Sue & I doing an Evolution Autocross School, I'm happy to announce our fuel consumption at 5.8 mpg.

I filled up the tank on Friday when we arrived in Merrillville, Indiana. Tonight (Sunday) I topped it up with 8.88 gallons after traveling a total of 51.5 miles. The site location was about two miles from the motel, the gas station was right nextdoor.

The Hoosiers are reduced to keeping the rims from touching the pavement, at least the underwear isn't showing.
The tires had one autocross on them (Sue & I each making 5 runs), and we added 61 runs on Saturday and about 36 to 40 runs today. An unheard of number of runs on that model of tire! The grip started going off by the end of yesterdays timed runs.

If anybody is considering any type of autocross specific driving school, I highly recommend Jean Kinsler's Evolution Autocross School.

Without being too nosey, how much $$$ did the 2-day course cost and would it be a good start for beginners? Thanks!

Local Regions that host the schools set the price, but figure about $200.00 per day. In most cases, a Phase I/II weekend is $350.00 per student, lunch included.

Phase I is about driving and Phase II is about being able to read the course. Everybody will benefit from P-I. Phase II would be more benficial after a season or two of autocrossing (if you're new to the sport, you don't need to overload yourself right off the bat... like I did to Sue last year!).

I'm trying to get us in a Phase III, Extreme Challenge and Dial In schools now...

I did Phase I and II last year. Lots of fun, if not a little pricey. Definitely cool doing a whole season's worth of autox so fast. Just run after run after run. I got out of the car and saw small chunks of tire all over the back of my car. I wanted to scrape it off, push it all together, and make a spare Pilot Sport out of it.

They premiered the Challenge school last year in Boston. Students had 12" wide vinyl sheets across their windshield ... the only thing they could see was 50' in front of the car or out the side windows. If you haven't planned the way the car goes by the time it gets that close, you're too late ...

Everything costs double for (the two of) us, but it pleases me to no end knowing that Sue can handle that car under those conditions. It got a little loose on her a time or two, but she regained control with minimal fuss (unlike one of the instructors that spun it with her in the car; we all had a good laugh over that one).

Her best timed run was a half second behind my fastest run. Sue was over 2-1/2 seconds faster than a guy in a Z06 (also on Hoosiers), even though this isn't a competition, it's still fun to compare!

I've ridden with you, no way I'm taking that bet!!:supdude:

Are you coming to Toledo for the National Tour in a couple of weeks?

Sue and I just got in the Extreme Challenge School to be held in Peru July 2nd. I'm looking forward to this!

Lowest MPG ever on my OBC was on the track at Summit Point. I was getting 10.6 MPG with my 3.0 M54.

Getting the Barge up to 120 on the main straight, and tailing an M Coupe through the twisties for multiple laps, I still couldn't get below 11mpg. :p

On the trip home, the OBC was reading 30.x MPG the whole way. I'd like to see that in an ///M-car.

:p :fruit:

How about 26.6 MPG average for a full tank? At an AVERAGE speed of 78.9 MPH. :D
