I got my AW e90 335i in February '07. I have Step, sport, premium, cold weather packages, I also have 20% tint and blackline tailights. Here we go:
THE GOOD:
Engine: With 28,000 miles it is going strong! This car is powerful and I still love the exhaust note when accelerating. Interestingly, i recently took it in for service and had my SA ask me if my car was chipped because the tech working on it thought it was "too fast" (my car is not chipped, btw)
Transmission: This is a smooth operator! Shifts are fast and smooth! I have the paddles and I love them!
Sport Seats: These are excellent seats compared to the regular ones. They are supportive and adjustable and come in quite useful when driving aggresively
Tires: I had the stock bridgestones for 24k miles and swapped them for Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 non-runflat and wow! What a difference! Now, the bridgestones were not bad at all when the pavement was smooth, but over rough pavement they were horrible. There is a great difference in the ride quality. The PS2s are great tires and the loud bangs that would be generated by the bridgestones is a thing of the past! Now, I live in Brooklyn, NY and the streets out here can at times be downright treacherous, and riding on 18s is not the best of ideas, but PS2s are a vast improvement over OEM tires.
Interior: The interior can be made a bit livelier, but so far is holding up well. I personally like the e46 interior because it was more driver oriented.
THE BAD
Body Roll: When going into turns a slight body roll is present.
Fuel Pump Replaced: My fuel pump died at 11K miles and was replaced within five days (also used this issue to succesfully worked on BMWNA to get an oil cooler installed, because when I first asked for a retrofit, I was denied) THe current pump is going well, thus far!
Brake Chirping: Yes some of you have complained for a while about this and I have had a set of brake pads and brake sensor replaced! and the darn thing returns after 10K or so miles. They need to do something about this! Its annoying!
Looks: The look is a bit dated already and I just dont understand why BMW went with the that grill! ugh...but hey, overall I am satisfied with my purchase.
I still love the car though! It's fast, relatively comfortable and not that bad on fuel economy.
