I am graduating from a 318ti (1995) to an M3 (1995). My experience lately has been oil pump on 318ti and water pump on a 525it (1995). I have a manual torque wrench and the very basic tools.

My M3 88K miles with excellent records and maintenance has me concerned over being proactive.

I suppose I could extract a list of weaknesses in the M3 and if nothing had been addressed in that area of concern I would analyze the part or system and try to see if a problem was ready to occur.

I am ready to bend over backwards to make this fine auto last a good long life and have moderate skills.

The oil sump for instance. Do most serious M3 lovers go ahead and tear it apart to tack weld the nut in place?

I hear they run pretty well with just normal care but some posts have me a little worried that there may be some tricky little problems here and there. I suppose attitude is everything.
