ok so when i take my key out of the ignition; my car doesn't turn off. I go to the back and disconnect the battery and take the fuel pump fuse out to shut it down. if i remove the key normally, the accessories do turn off (radio, computer) but the ac, gauges and motor will not. removing the battery terminal disengages the the gauges and whatnot, and pulling the fuel pump fuse (17) turns the motor off a minute or so later. My local stealership has already sold me an ignition wire of some sort which did not fix my problem. any ideas?? suggestions??? shots in the dark???? i have already posted this once to no avail; i know someone out there has my answer.... please give it to me!!!!:bawling:

Also; will my current method of shutting car off damage my vehicle? ANY AND ALL HELP APPRECIATED. Thx guys (n girls)

Wow, interesting. My dad's old 1980 Merc 300D used to do that, but we sold it soon after it started that and never bothered fixing it, it only happened occasionally. Funny enough, they actually had a lever connected to the throttle butterfly valve marked "STOP" that you could push to seal the TB off and manually shut the engine off.

Unfortunately, none of that helps.. Sounds to me like you need a new ignition switch. Can you find out exactly what they replaced? If not the switch, definitely look in to that. I don't think pulling the fuse or disconnecting the battery will cause any negative long term effects.

Can you not just stall the engine? Or does that not work in this situation?

Something ive never understood lol.
