[Z4]: 4500 miles and the Money Light is on...

Anyone want to guess why at 4500 mile the SES light is on on my ///M Coupe? Car seems to run fine - only symptom is a slight burning smell under the hood. I have had one AutoX session and one track day in it. SES came on about 1000 miles after those events.

Hope to have it in the shop next week.

What is the function of that part? And what causes it to go bad on a new vehicle?

I had my codes read today and the cause of my SES light was the O2 sensor behind the cats. I had it cleared and we will see if it lights up again...

OK - so the light came on again - took to the dealer and they replaced an O2 sensor - under warranty. Also, the car had developed a tinny rattling noise from the left rear wheel which turned out to be a "mis-routed e-brake cable" from the factory. That has been corrected as well.
