The '07 has electrically-assisted power steering, which is a fairly new feature that is gradually being adopted throughout the industry.
I had a failure of the "steering angle sensor" part # 32-30-5-783-082 while on a recent trip. The failure occurred immediately after a series of lock-to-lock turns to do a U-turn on a narrow street.
There was a pull to the left of about 5lb or so and the DSC and brake light lit up. I checked the left tires for air pressure and felt the brake calipers for uneven heat. Everything was normal.
I made an emergency visit to a local dealer who diagnosed the problem as a faulty steering angle sensor. They reset the codes, but the codes quickly reappeared. I was able to safely drive the 900 miles home, but with the steering "pulling" all the way.
My home port dealer confirmed the problem, but noted something else. There is a technical service bulletin on this very problem, which includes a detailed procedure for "rebooting the steering angle sensor. This is something to keep in mind when out of warranty. In the sprit of caution, my dealer replaced the part. x
