It indeed has been a while since I've frequented these parts and I would have much rather been back to converse with you all about a different topic... but alas it is not in our stars.

Today, I was rear-ended... again. Last time this happened in a parking lot and the subsequent discussion got a little heated on BF but this is a little different.

Scenario:
I am stopped at a red light, with busy traffic all around. Light turns green and before I can shift from neutral to first to take off... I get rear ended. I look in my rear view mirror and the guy is on his headset listening to his iPod.

We both pull over - and this is not the best part of town either - and my back bumper seemed to have sustained about $1,200 worth of damage... or so I was quoted by the guy I take my cars to.

The other driver immediately hands me his insurance and admits that he was only looking down and that he was not paying attention. Since he seemed honest enough I got his personal and insurance information and offered to allow him to choose whether he wanted to involve his insurance company or pay cash up front.

I guess there are far worse things happening in the world today and even more poignant, something worse could have resulted from the said accident. I am counting my blessings that all is okay. I guess now I'll wait to see how long this guy takes dragging his feet.

I'll post some photos in the morning when there is light out.

Rear ended more than once... that is bad luck. I hope it is sorted to your satisfaction soon.

Hi 70orty,

Congrats on your new car. Cool color combo... Yup, you got it right. Twice!!! How do you like them apples?

I'll find out tomorrow how it will be sorted.:mad:

I'm glad things seem to work out. I just tapped someone this morning (I got distracted, she stopped because a pedestrian decided to cross the street at the last minute). Turned out I hit a coworker (not bad looking, either) and there's only a tiny mark on both bumpers that will buff off... I'm glad it's not like the time I rear-ended an Altima and caused $7k of damage.

So I finally, managed to find some time to take the car in to get it fixed. Have been absolutely swamped at work and school. Its getting to a point where I take my laptop to the bathroom with me. Every morning I wake up to my Blackberry and Outlook having at least 60 emails and 15 tasks that are due.

In any event, while the car is going in I thought I have a wheel guy paint my wheels mat black.

What do you guys think. Just curious to see what you guys think about it. I'll post some pic's when they are done. Does anyone also know how BMW feels about me returning a car with wheels painted differently.

Thanks guys.
