It indeed has been a while since I've frequented these parts and I would have much rather been back to converse with you all about a different topic... but alas it is not in our stars.
Today, I was rear-ended... again. Last time this happened in a parking lot and the subsequent discussion got a little heated on BF but this is a little different.
Scenario:
I am stopped at a red light, with busy traffic all around. Light turns green and before I can shift from neutral to first to take off... I get rear ended. I look in my rear view mirror and the guy is on his headset listening to his iPod.
We both pull over - and this is not the best part of town either - and my back bumper seemed to have sustained about $1,200 worth of damage... or so I was quoted by the guy I take my cars to.
The other driver immediately hands me his insurance and admits that he was only looking down and that he was not paying attention. Since he seemed honest enough I got his personal and insurance information and offered to allow him to choose whether he wanted to involve his insurance company or pay cash up front.
I guess there are far worse things happening in the world today and even more poignant, something worse could have resulted from the said accident. I am counting my blessings that all is okay. I guess now I'll wait to see how long this guy takes dragging his feet.
I'll post some photos in the morning when there is light out.
