Oil filter and housing question please

Ok changed my oil today and had a few anal questions please give me some input so i can sleep tonight
Andy if you have done yours mine is the same motor as yours

1. the center shaft with orings and guard is not tight on the cap
it did not fall off or anything but it does wigle around on the cap
the cap came off like it should
the area that i am concerned about is circled and arrowed in below picture, IS this the way it is or does mine have a problem??

2. real dumb question but i need to ask
the filter is uni- directional right??
i could not find a " this side up " or anything
in other words can it be put in upside down??
And i just read about a E38 and he said to put the filter into the cap assembley and screw the whole thing in
i put the filter in the metal housing then screwed the cap down
did i f- it up ????

My experiences are out of E46s but the engines and this part are the same.

1. This willgliness is normal.

2. I think you mean the filter is bidirectional. Yes, it can go in either way (I've never seen anything indicating otherwise) though I've made a habit of having the PN point up. And it doesn't matter whether you stick the element on the cap or in the canister.
